  • Definition of shiatsu

Shiatsu, literally “finger pressure”, is a Japanese discipline close to acupuncture but without needles. It is practised on the floor while you wear comfortable clothing.

Pressure is applied with the hands or fingers to restore the body’s natural balance, support healthy functioning and release mental tension.

Wellbeing relies on the inner circulation of Ki, or vital energy, which helps maintain health through the meridians.

It is an art of inner movement.

Shiatsu is an official healthcare practice in Japan, recognised internationally and in Europe.

  • Definition of yoga

Yoga, literally: the union of body, mind and spirit, is a discipline from India that combines breathing, postural and concentration techniques for a meditative purpose.
Yoga promotes physical balance, emotional and even spiritual wellbeing in order to improve or maintain health.

Prana, the vital energy of the Vedic tradition, is set in motion by the asanas, the postures used, which release physical tension.
The mind can then focus on a meditative spiritual elevation, in order to access wisdom, Nirvana.

Yoga is an art of movement for spiritual purposes.

  • Definition of Do in

Do In, literally: the inner path, is a technique derived from warm-ups in Japanese martial arts. It is a form of self-shiatsu or self-massage that helps set the body’s internal energy, Ki, in motion.

This practice releases physical tension, supports metabolic detoxification and strengthens the Hara area (below the navel), the centre of our physical and mental energy.

Do In uses stretching, stimulation of certain acupuncture points and meridians, in sync with the breath.

Do In promotes circulation; it is an art of inner movement.

Convinced that our society and medicine fail to see life in its entirety, and certain that ancestral techniques can alleviate the effects of stress on our physical and mental health, I set out in search of knowledge from elsewhere. Introduced at a very young age to Taoist energy healing and the benefits of essential oils, it was ultimately through Aikido that my interest in Japanese movement arts took root. My encounter with Shiatsu in 2007 was a revelation. Then, in 2015, I discovered Yoga, a new movement art that I particularly cherish.

I am Fannie Bournais and I will guide you in discovering these traditional movement and wellness therapies.
